Who we are
Salt and Light Chronicles is a Harare, Zimbabwe-based dance company, creative movement agency, and training academy dedicated to inspiring lives through movement. Our name is inspired by the Biblical call to be "the salt of the earth" and "the light of the world," reflecting our mission to preserve the beauty of dance while illuminating lives through creativity, excellence, and purpose.
Since our establishment in 2010, we have grown into one of Zimbabwe's leading dance companies, known for professional performances, innovative choreography, dance education, and community impact. We believe dance is more than entertainment—it is a powerful tool for storytelling, personal growth, cultural exchange, and transformation.
Whether training young dancers, creating large-scale productions, collaborating with international artists, or mentoring the next generation of creatives, we strive to create opportunities that inspire excellence both locally and globally.
Our Story
Salt and Light Chronicles was founded in January 2010 by Tichaona Chikara and Terrence Kapesa.
The journey began as a two-man crew called Salt, founded by Tichaona Chikara and Takudzwa Madaka. It later merged with Light, founded by Terrence Kapesa, creating what is now known as Salt and Light Chronicles.
As the years progressed, dancers from different backgrounds joined the movement, bringing diverse styles, experiences, and creative perspectives. In 2018, the founders relocated to Harare, where the company continues to operate and expand its influence across Zimbabwe and beyond.
Today, Salt and Light has evolved into a respected dance company, creative movement consultancy, and educational platform working with schools, artists, brands, corporations, embassies, and international organizations.
